Before working with Shonnie, I was without a flashlight in the dark room called “blogging.” Now the room is much brighter, less scary, and more fun! My primary purpose in working with Shonnie was to have someone who has been there/done that to guide and direct me as I’m navigating this totally new world of blogging so that my learning curve is faster and more enjoyable. What I like best about working with Shonnie is that she is generous with her expertise, she is always teaching me new things, and she’s great to spend time with.

~Adrian Deal, NLP Master Practitioner and Certified Hypnotherapist

Course outline:

  • Part 1 — Thoughtful Planning (Weeks 1-4) — You will focus on the planning that will allow you to build a strong platform on which to begin blogging. I will support you in creating a clear vision of what you’re going for and identifying what you’ll need to get there.
  • Part 2 — Conscious Set Up (Weeks 5-8) — Set up your blog with the right features to meet your blogging and business objectives. During this time, I will support you to actually set up your blog so that it works for you and for those you serve. Note: WordPress is the platform that will be used.
  • Part 3 — Natural Community Building (Weeks 9-12) — We will focus on getting you connected in the blogosphere and building visibility for your blog. I will support you in developing authentic and effective strategies for marketing yourself and reaching the people you most want to serve.

Shonnie has a unique way of taking the gobbledygook found in most technical guides and translating it into plain, understandable English. I had previously paid a web designer hundreds (thousands?) of dollars to create a blog on my website. With Shonnie’s support, we got my new blog up and running in short order, setting it up so that I could work independently from any computer anywhere that has a link to the Internet. I’ll never need a web designer again. And if I have questions, Shonnie is there to answer them. If you want clear, cost-effective, compassionate support to get your blog started, I heartily recommend Shonnie Lavender.

  1. Hi Shonnie,

Great class! I’m feeling a bit challenged thinking about all the possibilities of the purpose(s) for my blog. I’m wondering if it might be helpful to have examples of purposes, or how to narrow this down?

    Thanks!

  2. Thanks for your honesty Barbara. I think clarifying one’s purpose is challenging for many folks. Perhaps that’s why many people skip this step. Don’t be one of them! :-D Check out my post Business blogs must serve a purpose for some suggestions.

  3. Hi Shonnie,

I am having difficulty with the whys as well, but perhaps this will become clearer to me as we move through the class.

I do have an FTP program that I use - Ipswitch WS_FTP - and I believe that it was a free program.

    See you in class!

  4. Ipswitch WS_FTP is fine. That’s another option for other folks too. Thanks for mentioning it! :-D

If you want some inspiration regarding the “whys”/purpose, check out Adrian’s comment #3.

  5. Shonnie, Thanks for the “Whys” exercise. It helped me get clarity on my purpose for blogging. Was the exercise derived from NLP? It felt like it was. Frank

  6. From our conversation during blogging class, I understand that my “deepening whys” process is similar to an NLP technique. Cool! I encourage you and others to use whatever techniques that work best for you. If you have suggestions, feel free to share. :-D
