Change Your Language, Change Your Life (part 1)

A Native American elder once described his own inner struggles in this manner: “Inside of me there are two dogs. One of the dogs is mean and evil. The other dog is good. The mean dog fights the good dog all the time.” When asked which dog wins he reflected and then replied, “The one I feed the most.”

One of the worst things we sometimes do to ourselves is open our mouths. While that may sound harsh, I can tell you from my work that our words can make our lives more difficult than they really are. In chapter nine of my book, Live the Life You’ve Imagined, I write about how we can make changes in our language to power up our life and remove barriers to our success. For clients who’ve adopted these new language habits, the results have been phenomenal—increased income, easier weight loss, more joy in their work, more free time, happier relationships. Does any of that sound like the results you want to create in your life?

Read on for the first three specific ways you can “change your language to change your life.” (more…)

Are you seeing the blessings in your life?

Orange FlowerOn the T.V. show Starting Over, there is a sign that hangs in the garden which reads, “Please smell the flowers.” To me this sign says that we live in a way that we somehow need the extra prompting or imploring to get us to remember to smell the flowers or to take time out to appreciate any beauty in life. We’ve busied ourselves so much that we practically need to be whacked with a 2×4 to get us to pay attention.

Given this, I have a few questions for you to consider:

  • What beauty is around you right now?
  • What are three blessings in your life right now?
  • What are you grateful for right now?

And, finally…

  • So that you don’t need a special sign or a whack from a 2×4, what choices will you NOW make in order to appreciate the beauty, blessings, and abundance in your life all the time?

You are SO blessed! Peace,
Shonnie
